I never really thought that my documenting the restoration of a car would be considered a "blog". Actually I don't think the term blog was even used when I started in August of 1997. I suppose I looked at it as a vehicle to share the experience of a restoration. However, after losing my domain name "Sandysgarage.com" and finding myself with no place to post my progress, I set out to find an alternative outlet. I had accumulated some 180+ postings with over 650 pictures over a 16 year period. Facebook seemed like a good place, free and I thought most people were on it or at least familiar with it. Unfortunately, after I spent a couple of hours uploading all the postings and pictures, Facebook took it upon itself to start randomly thinning out my posts leaving huge gaps in the progress of the restoration. Half the people who were following my website didn't have Facebook accounts and weren't the least bit interested in getting one. This wasn't what I was looking for. It was suggested by a friend wife that I move all the content over to a blog. "My stuff is not a blog!" I defensively exclaimed as if someone had just accused me of painting my fingernails. I fire back "A blog is going on and on about celebrities or cooking or parenthood." My postings were more of a manly "what to do" out in the garage. The one who made the suggestion just snickered and accused me of living under a rock... among other things. realizing she was far hipper than me I looked around a bit at some different blogs and concluded that my stuff would fit just fine.
So here we are. I am about to re-post the last 16 years of the on again-off again restoration progress posts related to my '70 HEMI Road Runner. Be warned, I have not been posting much on this project in the last few years even though I HAVE slowly worked on it and it's about complete.
